Jack Hazut was born in Jerusalem in 1953 as one of five children. He demonstrated an early interest in photography which he made his profession later on.

Serving in the Israeli Army for three years as a paratrooper, he was part and witness of historical military encounters. In the Yom Kippur War, he was stationed on the Suez Canal.

Jack emigrated to the United States in 1974.

From America, he has travelled extensively through Europe, Israel, Africa and South America.

However, most of his journeys have been back to Israel, camera in hand.
